About KKL Brand
In this era of rapid mobility, we are a generation of modern nomads. For education, career, or new chapters in life, we move between New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, drifting from one apartment to another. Each move is a subtle farewell to the past, and the one constant longing is for that corner where we can instantly unwind and feel at home.
The story of KKL began with our founder Kyle's seventh cross-country move. Facing yet another mess of cardboard boxes and a sofa that wouldn't fit through the doorway of his new apartment, he felt not just fatigue, but a sense of "homelessness." He realized that "home" is not an address, but a state of being—a feeling wrapped in familiarity, comfort, and belonging. And to unlock this state, a key was missing.
That key is KKL.
Kyle Zhang
Kyle is the soul and visionary behind KKL. As a Chinese-American raised in California, the interplay of Eastern and Western cultures gave him a deep understanding that “home” is both a profound anchor and a journey of freedom. After his seventh grueling move, he founded KKL, determined to create a portable “Key to Comfortable Living” for modern urbanites like himself. Today, he focuses on championing the brand’s vision, ensuring every decision at KKL stays true to its core mission: providing a solid landing point for life in flux.
Sofia Rivera
Sofia is the director of our living scenes. With Colombian-Italian heritage and training at a top New York design school, she excels at blending global aesthetic inspiration with real human needs. She believes furniture is a stage for emotions. Consequently, every KKL module and accessory she designs aims to spark creativity, empowering users to easily build a personal space that expresses individuality and fosters connection. Her work turns a “house” into a “home.”
Jake Peters
Jake is the guardian of our brand promise. An engineer from a furniture-making family in Indiana, he instills KKL with a Midwestern ethos of practicality and durability. Prior to joining us, he worked in high-performance outdoor gear, where he developed an uncompromising pursuit of “lightweight yet robust.” The patented connection systems and rigorous quality standards his team develops ensure that every KKL product is not only beautiful but also a dependable companion built to last for years.
The Birth of Three Keys
Before KKL Brand
Kyle (Founder), after his seventh move, was determined to solve the weariness of "life on the move" that lacked an anchor. Sofia (Designer) repeatedly hit walls while searching for "furniture that could grow" for urban apartments. Jake (Engineer) felt trapped in his family's traditional craftsmanship, yearning to create more flexible, modern products.
Their frustrations and yearnings collided at a furniture fair. Kyle was searching for "a flexible grammar," Sofia needed "a design that could evolve," and Jake held the key to "a modular engineering language." They realized the fragments each held—an insight into the times, the translation of aesthetics, and the technology for execution—could be pieced together to form a complete key, unlocking an entirely new solution.
Thus, the story of KKL truly began with this encounter.

Team Assembling
Our three founders officially formed a team with commercial capabilities and submitted a business plan – this is where our dream began.We agreed to transform the KKL brand into a harbor for nomadic people.
